Thirty meters under the earth extends a network of passages, shafts, halls and rooms. It's a completely autonomous military base.
In the period between the two world wars, the French government decided to secure the eastern borders through a chain of bunkers, the Maginot Line. It created a defensive wall that extended from the North Sea to the Mediterranean. The military construction got its name by the Minister of War André Maginot.
Today most of the old bunkers are sealed or destroyed. Only a few of the larger ones are still accessible via secret entrances.
